The ultimate wave pool

So, we are headed on vacation tomorrow morning and the kids are very excited. We are heading to Puerto Rico. We were asked all sorts of questions but the first question that was asked (come to think of it, it's one of the first questions they always ask) was by Brityn:

"Dad do they have a wave pool there?"
"Yeah......, it's called the ocean Sweet Pea."
"Woohoo!"

All they need to be happy is a wave pool. They talk about the wave pool by Grandmas, and the one at seven peaks all the time. As long as the destination includes a wave pool they are thrilled.

Oops

I meant to post the previous post on my blog. So it is on both, sorry.

Is it working now?......Good now stay there!

So, I am pretty frustrated with my computer at home. Well it's not really our computer, its the internet. We share internet with our next door neighbors and we pay them 20 bucks a month for it. Sometimes when it isn't working so well he won't let us pay him (which is SOOO nice of him). So for the past 3 months we haven't had to pay him! Let me give you an experience Scott and I go through when we try to get on and navigate the internet.
Last night we wanted to order some pizza for dinner from Papa Murphy's. We didn't know what kind of pizza they had and didn't want to sit on the phone while they rattled them off to us. So we just thought, we will look on the internet for a good kind of pizza and also print off a $2 off coupon. It is about 8:30 (because we have night classes and don't eat til late) and Papa Murphy's closes at 9. We try to get on the internet and what d'ya know, the internet isn't working. Now there are certain spots in the room that if you stand there, the signal is better (I don't know how and why we figured this out). This time the signal was really good if I stood on top of a chair right to the side of the computer with my arms waving in the air. So while I stood on top of the chair, Scott searched for a pizza that sounded good. My arms were getting tired so I put them down........and the internet stopped working. GOSH DANG IT!! The $2 dollar coupon page "failed to open" and it was getting closer to 9:00. So I raised my hands back in the air while Scott opened the $2 off coupon page. I asked him how it was working and he said, "Good, now stay there" (Here I am standing on top of a chair with my arms waving in the air.) The page opened up and we hurried and printed it off. We called it in and ran down the road a little way to get it just in time to see them wiping up the counters and cleaning everything up. Phew!
The pizza was good and I think we are going to get our own internet so we don't have to play a guessing game and look ridiculous dancing around the room trying to find a good signal.

Updated photo of Bronx

Today is Thursday and Bronx is no longer wearing that breathing mask. He is improving everyday

New baby in the family!

Bronx Olsen was born Sunday September 21, 2008. He was a month early and weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz. and was 19 in. long. His lungs weren't quite developed all the way so they put this mask on him to help him breathe. He is doing so well and improving every day. So CONGRATULATIONS Nat, Aric, and Taija for a newest member of the family.

Houston, We have a Problem!!

Ok so here we are at Friday and still no power. It has been 7 days, for those of you who might be counting, or maybe that's just me. I am so anxious to get back into my own house. Everyday I drive into my neighborhood to check and all I have to do is roll down my window and listen. If I hear the loud roar of generators it's a no go. Maybe today is my lucky day.

I still have no access to my computer/internet so I won't be able to post pictures for a while, but I'm using Sheriee's computer to give you all an update on how we are.
Ryan went back to work yesterday and he said the place was empty. One of his co-workers had a tree fall in on his house. I know we are very blessed to have escaped with as little damage as we did.

As soon as my email is back up I will email you all me new address, phone#, and email address.

Thanks for all your calls of concern. We love you all.

Something Special...

Hey I talked to the guy that does the paintings and he said he could do it for us. I am so excited! I just thought that this could be something that is a little comforting for Mike and Montica! I think he said he was going to do something like Jesus holding Brennan's face, kind of like the primaty one you see everywhere! If you would like to go in on it...let me know. You can just do whatever you can. Even ten dollars would be great! Also if anyone has any pictures of Brennan they can send or e-mail they would be really great also. He said he needs as many as we can round up! Thanks!

Oh grate!

This thing was irresistable for some odd reason!  We all got an up close look at how a cattle guard works.  There were actually 3 incidents.  Dace fell through twice.  Maybe the cows think like the kids do...."if I could just slide my little hoofs along the metal slats..." then kablam!  They are up to their knees in cattle grate.

Candy Bomb!

Dagen is really excited about the tootsie roll!

A lesson to remember!

So on the 24th of July some of my girlfriends and I went to Bear Lake. We rented Jetski's, layed out on the beach, and played in the water with my friends dog. The jetski's were so much fun. I had a blast up there. On our way back to Ogden my friend and I realized how sunburned we were. Parts of our bodies were almost purple because of exposure to the sun. I had put sunscreen on my face, my head, and my shoulders, but not my arms, legs, or chest. We were in soo much pain. I had to hurry and get ready to go to a friends house (Scott's cousins wife's parents house) to watch the fireworks that were being set off at lagoon (They have a great view from their house). Their whole family was there waiting for the fireworks. We talked to everyone for a little bit and all of the sudden I felt nauseous like I was going to puke. So Scott and I sat down on the grass while we talked to the family and waited for the fireworks to start. The fireworks started and we stood up to go sit down on the chairs so we could see the show. I sat down and I felt really light headed. I said to Scott, "I'm gonna pass out" I layed my head on his shoulder and I passed out! I have never ever ever passed out, I get really light headed but I never pass out. This time I did for about 15-20 seconds. I woke up to Scott yelling my name and patting my cheek and everyone gathered around me. I immediately said "I'm fine I'm fine." Then I passed out again for about 5 seconds!!! Scott scooped me up and took me over to lay on the grass. I woke up and I felt dizzy but not nauseous. I told them I was going to be fine but the mom said that she had called 911 and the ambulance was on the way. GREAT!! She tried to call and cancel but once you call they have to come. Scott and the dad held me by my arms and took me inside to lay on the couch. Now I expected a couple EMT's but there were not only 3 EMT's but a fire cheif, and 2 more cops who were also paramedics. so there were about 6 guys gathered around me trying to take my vitals (my blood pressure was low) and asking me questions such as, "Are you pregnant?" "Is there a possibility you are pregnant?" "Are you trying to get pregnant?" all of these pregnant questions. The answer to all of these questions was "No" They took my vitals a few times and told me and insisted that I needed to go to the hospital whether by Scott or by ambulance, which I thought was SO unnecessary because I was feeling a lot better. They all thought that I was pregnant and there might be complications from that, which I couldn't really rule out because I was waiting for that time of the month any day now. I was finally stable enough for them to leave and Scott and I went home at about midnight which was one hour after the EMT's left. The next day we went to the doctor on campus. He took my vitals
and had me do a urine sample. The results were back! I was NOT pregnant and there was no infection, I had just been in the sun for too long and was a little dehydrated and when I stood up to go sit down at the fireworks I did get light headed, but there was no blood that could rush to my head to recover because it was all in my arms and legs from my sunburn.
SO, always, always, ALWAYS put sunscreen on EVERYWHERE, or else!!!

Pizza

So for food one night I have an idea to have pizza. This can either be BK's pizza that will be free with Mom and Dad's fuel cards, or I have a pizza stone and we can make homemade pizza. I think it will be fun for everyone to make a pizza. The pizza will only take 5 minutes to cook once the pizza stone is warmed up. The adult can conglomerate their own couple of pizzas, and then the little kids can make their own personal little pizza. we would have to pay for the ingredients, and the BK's pizza would be cheaper, but I think this would be funner. I just need to know everyones input on this!

Reunion

Hey I was working on getting the talent show stuff together for the reunion. I was wondering if everybody could let me know what their children are doing.....you don't have to be specific, just a genre would be fine, ex; singing a song, performing a dance or piano piece. Please get them to me as soon as possible. You can email me or just comment on this post. Mom and Dad, I thought it would be good if you guys could maybe sing? Stevie maybe you could sing or play something too? I think it would be a good idea for some of the adults to do things too. Also Scott I am putting you and Joe down for a little unicycle something? Let me know! If anyone has any other ideas please share them with me.

Antique Photo

I was rummaging through some old pictures and came across this unmarked photo. I was wondering if anybody knows: Stream side or Leonard side?

To All The Stream Girl Cousins....

I was talking with Kodi trying to plan her birthday party. I asked her who she wanted to invite. She said a few friends and then started naming all the cousins. So instead of sending invitations to all, I thought I would just do this. I know some of you can't come and we totally understand. I just wanetd to let you all know that you are invited! It is going to be on the 19th of June. It is a Thursday.

Ah, the memories

First let me apologize about the quality of the photos.  I came across a few pictures I thought I would share as I was cleaning out my "stuff" boxes.  The first is a before shot from the infamous video of all of us falling down Grandma's stairs.  It looks like Amber was the one who caught it all on tape!  Let's point out a few highlights: Nat, always with the colored socks!  At least when there was a package of socks purchased, the purple and turquoise got just as many turns as the white and black.  Notice Stevie's face: a little bit of an actor if I do say so myself, and are those pink short he has on?  Autumn and Age, loved those polka dot outfits!  This event still brings a smile to my face!

Next we have the picture of a reconnaissance mission.  The only one missing from the picture is Moq.  Where were you Moq?  I believe this was Easter (notice the candy bags, although I am shocked Ryan has anything even left in his baggie), and the majority of the family was on their way back from California?  The car broke down, and several of us had to come and rescue the stranded family.  Smashing bibs Joe.  You know those were hand me downs, that he was just praying would be his one day.

Do any of you have pictures you would like to share?  Age in particular, something with a bonnet on it?

IT'S A BOY!

A Must Read

For those of you who have not watched the news seen Oprah or even surfed the internet lately let me introduce you to Randy Pausch. Randy was a professor of computer science at Carnegie Melon University. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and only given a few months to live. He was asked to give a "last lecture" at his university. He decided to give his lecture on achieving childhood dreams. Anyway I was introduced to this book and his last lecture at work. Soon after I read his book "The Last Lecture" I read it in like a day I could not put it down. So anybody who is looking for a great read I highly recommend this book. It has to be good for me to learn how to use this blogging thing to recommend it. If you really enjoy it let me know. Also, Randy is still alive he recently spoke at the Carnegie Melon commencement and his next goal is to make it to Fathers Day to spend it with his three kids. I guess I can say after reading this book I truly have been counting my blessings.

Recipes

I am trying to make a menu for the next month or two! I need all the recipes I can get! Anything will do, grilled cheese sandwiches will even do. I really do enjoy cooking, it's the coming up with the idea part that I dislike. When I have compiled my menu I will share it with those who would like.

A Note to the Parents

Mom and Dad:
We would sure like to hear your comments on our blogs.  The kids would too.  They look at the pictures and read the comments as well. I'm threatening to say some more mean stuff about John Denver and possibly Marty Robbins if you don't start commenting.

My cleaning and organizing must haves!

I thought I would share a few of the things that make my life easier.  I would love to hear what makes your life easier too!

I have this dry erase calendar board in my kitchen (it's also magnetic).  Every family member is assigned a different color so that it makes it easy for them to see their weekly schedule.

These clorox drop in tablets are placed in the toilet tank.  It keeps your bowl clean for weeks at a time, and really cuts down on scrubbing!  Just be careful if you have little hands that still like to swish around in the toilet!

These wipes I cannot do without!  I have them under each sink in the house.  The kids are expected to wipe down their sinks and toilets each morning (this really cuts down on my scrubbing time).  Also great for counters, doorknobs, lightswitches.  Anywhere that kids get germs.  You can get different brands that aren't as expensive, and they also have them in bulk at Costco.

A lady in my ward recently told me she organizes her whole closet with these cascading hanger organizers.  She hangs a pair of pants or a skirt and then all the shirts, jackets, etc. she wears with the pants above it on the same hanger organizer.  So it makes it really simple to find an outfit to wear. Each organizer has 2-5 outfit possibilities.  It also really cuts down on closet space.  You could also just organize it by clothing type: all pants, all short, all T-shirst, etc.  I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm going to.  I am going to do Brityn's closet as well to cut down on mismatched outfits she puts together.  You can get these at amazon.com, but they might even have them at Walmart or Target.

What are your must haves?

3D PICTURES

This is the best picture that we got of the baby! Its kind of hard to tell exactly
where he is in the picture! I outlined his face and then circled where his eye is!
They say he looks like Bart Simpson with the big lip and small chin! But I think he
is adorable and can't wait for him to be here!!

Our Grandpa
One of the best memories of grandpa was the same as Wads. He would take us to piano in the blue cordova with white leather seats. Although it would take us honestly about 30-35 to get to Orangville to piano I loved it when he was able to take us, he would always make sure there was a treat for us either before or after. No wonder we are all the way were are about snacks huh!!
I also loved going just talking to Grandpa. He was always genuinally concerned about how we were doing and what our families were up to. He very rarely forgot a birthday, or holiday. I too looked forward to birthday cards from him. He accomplished much in his lifetime ,and as you all know was an extremly smart man, but yet he was so humble about it. I am so gratful to be able to have had such a wonderful Grandfather .

Grandpa

Grandpa was so easy to talk to because there wasn't a whole lot he didn't know everything about. He could talk to anyone about anything.  He was extremely witty.  He used to save airplane magazines for Kevin and went out of his way to have treats and a picnic table set up for my kids when we visited.  I looked forward to not only my birthday but also my kids birthdays.  He never forgot!  The envelopes were always addressed in perfect block lettering and the envelope was completely sealed shut with tape (perfectly placed along the flap of the envelope).

I remember when he came to visit when we were young.  We got excused from school and had a fun time up the canyon.  I never remember Grandpa being pessimistic or ornery.  He was always smiling and telling us how good it was to see us.

Of all of Grandpa's greatest accomplishments I am so grateful to him for a wonderful Dad who I know has inherited some of his greatest attributes.  I love thinking how Grandpa must be so happy reconnecting with friends and family that have passed on, and being free from the gravity of this life.

Memory of Grandpa

I remember Grandpa taking us to piano also, but after piano was over he always had a treat for us. He would go down to food ranch and but a little candy bar for us. I also remember him always bringing us popcicles, he still did this when I was older and moved away. I would go home and find about 5 bags of popcicles and a few jars of pickles that he would bring over...YUM! Those are good times to remember.

Memories of Grandpa...

I thought it might be nice if we all wrote a memory or two about Grandpa Don. Use a post and not a comment so that we can all see them right on the home page.

My memory of Grandpa is when he would come pick us up in his baby blue Cordoba and take us to piano. I could hardly see out the windows in the back seat. I also remember always volunteering to take his dinner over because we almost always would get to stay and play Go Fish, or Old Maid, and the best part...Swiss cake rolls!!!

Best Makeup Ever!

I have been trying for years, especially since moving out here, to find a foundation that will not melt off my face and that looks natural.  Autumn told me about this awesome skin care/make-up product that I had seen infomercials for.  I have gotten burned before ordering things off the TV. I finally came to the conclusion that if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.  But, since Aut had such success with it I decided to try it.  I love it!  I have the starter kit right now, but you can add to it as you want to.  It is actually good for your skin, and it is waterproof!  No more melting in the humidity!  If you want to know a little more about it check out it out.  It's called Bare Minerals.

Blog Backgrounds!!!

Okay all... I actually "made" my back ground. I am still new at it but if you want to learn how, call me and I will try to walk you through it. It is way easy. I love it because it is limitless to what you can do!

Dear Ry

Ry-
I have a long explanation as to why there is no picture of you on this blog!  Seems as though no one really knows how to run their scanners or their scanners are broken.  Nat's scanner was broken, and so I had asked Mom and Dad to send me a picture.  After I had begged for a picture of you to scan into my computer (at the time I had no scanner) I finally bought a scanner.  Then try as I might, I could not get the picture to scan into the computer.  I was in the process of sending the picture to Adri to see if she could get it to work.  So if you have any pictures you could email me instead of scan into the computer that will work!  I also need your email address so that I can put you onto this sight (then you will be able to post messages and leave comments!).  Yeah!  I am so excited you are going to blog with us.  That stinkin' message on your phone got me good.

Boys try out the unicycle

This was so funny to watch. Scott brought his unicycle down and all the boys wanted to ride it. They all thought is was as easy as it looks. So Jake (the natural born athlete) hops on and biffs it. He then suggested they maybe should go out back on the grass. Joey and Stevie came out to join. This first picture is of Scott trying to coach Jake while Stevie and Joey watch. Then Stevie had a try at it. No luck. He totally biffs it too. Joey wanted to try it and he too could barely get on the thing. All of them were bound and determined to suceed. So they tried to hold on to each other until they got the hang of it. Nope, no such luck. In the background of the one picture you can see Dace with a nerf football. He threw it and it hit Joey and made him fall off and Stevie gets a good laugh out of it. Just after I took the picture of Joey on Scotts back, they crashed and Joey went flying off. It was a really fun to watch.
